I Heart Faces

Here are my entries for I heart faces kids (theme is pout) and pets (anything goes). I realize these are not my best "photography" wise, but they fit the theme!!

Tired girl ready for her nap:

My sweet fur baby Dixie cocks her head to the side in the cutest little inquisitive look when you ask her a question:

I promise this is the last time this picture will be on the blog. I touched it up a little bit since I entered it in the i heart faces and we picture this contest. Any thoughts on which one is better? You can see the original in a couple of posts below and click on it to enlarge it.
I currently use pse 6.0 for post processing and would love any tips on black and white conversion. I like bright faces and as little gray as possible, but also don't want the photos to look overdone.

My i heart faces entry for this week will be up soon!!

Precious Details

I adore pictures of sweet little hands and feet. I think some forget to take pictures of the tiny details of a little one that they will want to remember. Here a couple of pictures I took of my youngest cousin's little hand and feet. She was about six weeks old at the time. These are of the baby sister of the other girls in the post below.

Oh, and maybe one of the sweet baby smiling...this one is much more recent, just the other day.

*Thank you to everyone for the kind comments on my photo that placed 5th in the i heart faces weekly contest!! I was super excited to place that high my first time, and your comments made me feel great!!

We Picture This

we picture {this}

I know this picture appeared a few posts down, but I am re-posting it as a contribution for the black and white theme on We Picture This. It is of my two year old cousin, whom I nanny a couple of days a week. This photo is special as it was completley unposed and she is normally an expressive, vivacious, energetic little girl. I'm glad I could capture her quieter side. She is amazing to photograph because is so very unaware of the camera.

Canon Rebel XSi
Manual mode
ISO 100
1/80
Aperature f/5.0
Taken at 11:16am with no flash, outside in the shade

My second picture is of the big sister to the little girl above. She is super sweet, but is very stiff normally in front of the camera so it was great to be able to loosen her up and catch her in a spontaneous laugh.

Canon Rebel XSi
Manual Mode
ISO 200
1/125
Aperature f/5.6
Taken at 2:40pm outside with natural light

My black and white conversion needs work, but I do love black and white photos so I am excited about the theme!!

Dixie

Just thought I would introduce my sweet puppy Dixie today. She is a great dog, and full of personality and unconditional love. However, don't dare leave her outside a second longer than she wants to be... she will throw a tantrum that makes the neighbors talk about what could be happening to that poor dog. : )

First Post- I Heart Faces!!

I have so loved following other blogs, so I decided to create one of my own. I love that it will enable me to enter photgraphy contests. Here is my fist entry for iheartfaces.blogspot.com kids category this week. The theme is natural light, and this photo was shot outside in completely natural light. It is of my 2 year old cousin who I nanny a couple of days a week. One of my favorite things about it is that was completely unposed!!
